Summer Balfanz Speech and Public Speaking Activities
Summer Balfanz participates in speech activities focused on the discussion format through Roseville Area High School, where she presents and discusses topics in a competitive setting. Her school record includes participation in the speech team and recognition for her performance as a teammate. In addition, Summer Balfanz received the speech team award for best first-year teammate and earned first place at the 2023 Star Tribune Eastview Lightning Classic Speech Meet. She also placed eighth at the 2023 Minnesota High School Sectional Tournament.
Moreover, Summer Balfanz enjoys writing. She has attended Minnesota Creative Writer Workshops at Bethel University in Arden Hills, Minnesota. Her interests include literature and writing, particularly autobiographies, memoirs, historical fiction, comics, and classic French literature. She also enjoys learning about international authors and their backgrounds.
As a member of Minnesotans for a Smoke-Free Generation, Summer Balfanz has participated in youth outreach and educational activities connected to reducing teen smoking and vaping. Her work has included designing posters and promotional materials, as well as communicating with Minnesota state representatives during the legislative session.
Additionally, Summer Balfanz has participated in school and community activities, including JV cross-country, volunteering with Roseville Parks and Recreation, and educational travel.
